The Marathon Golden Idols is an A.V. awards ceremony. We choose 5-6 movies from the same genre, director etc. to view and compare. The various category winners are awarded a Golden Idol, which has become desired by Adventurers worldwide.
All Marathons are hosted by Marathon Men Brad Hawkins, and Nathan Plantenga. Together, we represent the A.V. community of cinephiles. This exercise has helped us understand filmmaking and changed the way we watch movies. We use the Marathon to examine and discuss films we've needed to see or haven't seen in a while.
*Note: Rules were updated on 1/20/21. Previous marathons WON’T be updated to reflect the current rules. 2015 was our first year doing the marathons, so anything went.
