  1. Best Location

  2. Best Character

  3. Best Kill/Death/Defeat

  4. Best Score or Soundtrack

  5. Best Screenplay

  6. Best Special Achievement

  7. Best Scene

  8. Defining Moment/Attribute/MVP

  9. Best Director

  10. Wildcard (Create your own category)

  11. WTF

  12. Worst Picture

  13. Best Pic

Note: Depending on Genre, categories are subject to change.

Also, rules were updated on 1/20/21. Previous marathons WON’T be updated to reflect the current rules.

MARATHON RULES

Note: Marathon rules are similar to Versus except we deduct a point for worst picture.

  1. There is no talking about the categories with other participants until the night of the episode. Let's save the conversation for the table! A unique point of view can be refreshing and help others see things in new ways. Our perspective can become biased when it is manufactured by other people’s point of view. In this battle of sorts we want every film to have a fighting chance and be free of bias as much as possible prior to the episode.

  2. There are two types of awards that may be bestowed. A Golden Idol, meaning it was the cream of the crop and a Rubber Chicken, meaning it was crap. Only two Rubber Chickens can be given per participant.

  3. Each Golden Idol is worth one point.

  4. Golden Idol or Rubber Chicken votes may be changed during the episode or before leaving the studio. Once you leave the studio, it's in the history books.

  5. A movie that is awarded for worst picture will get penalized one Golden Idol.

  6. A movie that is awarded a Rubber Chicken will not be given a point. A Rubber Chicken can be given if a "best" cannot be identified for one of the categories listed above. No other penalties will be given because isn't the disgrace of a Rubber Chicken penalty enough?!

  7. A category can TIE with multiple films and if this happens all films tied get a point. However, a participant can only have two tie points, so choose wisely. If the participant chooses to save their tie points he/she can boost the Best Picture category with three points instead of one.

  8. WTF Awards are neutral, no penalty occurs and no points given.

  9. The movie with the most Golden Idols at the end of the episode is declared the winner. Golden Idol winners may be brought to The Council for Pantheon consideration if those participating in the Marathon agree unanimously. (see Pantheon page).

  10. Participants are encouraged to wear a shirt that honors an A.V. Pantheon movie.

Note: We didn't have the above rules in place when we started marathoning in 2015. Rules are subject to change without notice.
