Operation Dumbo Drop Sequel Series Heading to Disney+
Operation Dumbo Droppings is being fast-tracked in light of the success of Tuna & Hooch and The Mighty Quacks on Disney+.
Set to lead the series are Eddie Murphy and Shia LaBeouf. As reported by The BloJo Movie Network, Murphy will be playing a soon-to-retire Captain. His replacement (Shia LaBeouf) and a team of special forces (Bryan Cranston, Georges St-Pierre, Luis Guzman & Gina Carano) must locate and transport a live elephant in time for a village's spiritual event.
The original film had Danny Glover and Ray Liotta in the lead roles. The film wasn’t a hit with reviews (31% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 29%) and it didn’t do very well financially, so obviously Disney+ has ordered a 12-episode season with 1-hour episodes.
Transformers: The Last Knight and Batman & Robin writer Akiva Goldsman is on board to write and exec produce the series, with David S. Goyer (Blade: Trinity) attached as co-executive producer. What could go wrong?
Disney has been desperate to turn their older movies into new streaming shows, and the results have been less than stellar so far. Seriously, Tooner and Hutch was a disaster. But things are about to change. According to insider Beezow Bityybop, Operation Dumbo Droppings is the start of a Disney cinematic universe. The plan is to build an interconnected, cross-property onscreen universe featuring characters from Disney’s other movies: Flubber, That Darn Cat, Mr. Magoo, My Favorite Martin and Inspector Gadget. All craptastic live-action Disney titles are being considered.
"The Disney Live Action Cinematic Universe is happening," the special insider tweeted. "This is going to be tons of fun! I never thought this day would come. Between this and the new ALF movie, I am overjoyed. I’m smiling like an idiot right now. Just thinking about this project makes me giggle my ass off. Also, rumor has it that Disney is trying to lock down Scarlett Johansson’s voice talent for one of the many secondary characters. Fingers triple crossed. Supposedly It’s been tricky navigating the deal with the ongoing lawsuit, but it’s all about business. Also, they’re looking to sign John Cena and Brendan Fraser to multiyear contracts. Can you imagine John Cena or Brendan Fraser as the voice of a silly, dumpy elephant? My heart is already melting. And if Disney can land the rumored Dick Van Dyke cameo, this universe will explode with happy feelings. More info to come.”
Fans might want to remember that this new series will be full of adult humor and violence. So as expected, Operation Dumbo Turd will be rated R and for adult audiences. The tone is said to be something between Apocalypse Now and George of the Jungle. James Gunn is in talks to direct the pilot episode. However, our sources tell us that he is more interested in helming the live-action remake of Flubber.
What do our readers think? Are you interested in Operation Dumbo Dung? Who would you like to see cast in the Disney Live Action Cinematic Universe? Larry the Cable Guy? Ice Cube? Kevin Hart? Beetlejuice from the Howard Stern Show? What other worthless Disney movies would you like to see turned into a streaming series? The sky’s the limit when you have F-you money like Disney. We will keep you updated on this breaking story as events unfold.
In other news, Disney just inked an eye-popping deal with the estate of Jim Varney. The deal is worth $1 billion dollars and will include an animated streaming series, six deepfake movies with the approved likeness of Jim Varney, and a 3D video game. Stay Woke, Videoland!
