Deadpool Will Stay R-rated, But There Are 8 Words Disney Won’t Let Him Say
It’s official--Disney has decided to keep Deadpool films R-rated after the Fox merger.
In a recent interview with The BloJo Movie Network, Jorge Carlos, a high-level suit over at Marvel, spoke on not only the films R-rating, but also how they plan to Disneyfy the comedy.
“We decided to go balls out and jump in the R-rated Deadpool universe,” he announced. “However, we’re still trying to figure out what is acceptable comedy. We’re thinking family-friendly, but with an edge. There are still lines to be crossed and envelopes to be pushed, but we don’t want to cross too far or push too hard. We’re trying to make comedy safe again for the viewer.”
Getting to the heart of the matter, Carlos explained, “The only thing that’s off the table at this juncture are 8 words -shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, tits, and Sony. We also want to stray away from hot button topics like gender, race, religion, rape, incest, midgets and drugs. Look, I wouldn't say we’re censoring Deadpool’s brand of comedy. I would say it’s more like we’re setting up parameters or guidelines to protect our interests. Yeah, I think that sounds good. I have to be careful not to say anything that might offend China. Anyway, we’re in constant talks with Ryan… we can’t wait to see what that crazy guy comes up with next.”
In a post on Instagram, Ryan Reynolds shared an image of him holding a bottle of Aviation Gin. In the caption, Reynolds writes: Getting ready to watch Song of the South for #DP3 inspiration. You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take. #AviationGin #AviationOwner #HughJackmanSucks
Along with this reaffirmation of Disney’s plans for R-rated Marvel movies, BloJo learned Disney is hoping to recast Wolverine with Danny Devito.
