Creed 3: Redemption Plot Leak! This Is HUGE!
Warning: Spoilers. Read at your own risk.
This is huge! On Jan 1st, Sylvester Stallone’s Instagram page leaked the entire plot for Creed 3. The plot was revealed only to be taken down shortly after. Lucky for us, the crew over at We Got This Smothered took a screenshot.
So as you can see, there’s a lot of misinformation to go over. And remember, take all of this with a grain of salt, because maybe the plot for Creed 3 could change as it is still in development.
So the plot from what we can make of the leak is this...
SPOILERS
Boxing promoter the Rev. Fred Sultan (Samuel L. Jackson) decides the best way to revive public interest in boxing is to create a white challenger to the black champion, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan). With no white boxers available (Creed beat them all), he creates one out of grunge rocker Terry Cocklin (Chris Hemsworth). But while Cocklin trains hard, Creed slacks off, endangering Sultan's carefully staged comeback.
Again, take this with a grain of salt! More spoilers ahead!
Two white supremacist boxing fans, Mike (Daniel Stern) and Jimmy (Joe Pesci), hatch a far-fetched scheme to sabotage the fight, by getting Adonis Creed very drunk -- and thus too hungover to perform in the ring. After the two kidnap the fighter, they dither about whether or not to release their captive. Rocky Balboa learns of the kidnapping and rescues Adonis. Bianca sings a song. Creed beats Cocklin. Rocky dies of a brain aneurysm.
Keep in mind that we have also seen some screenshots of boxing promoter the Rev. Fred Sultan (Samuel L. Jackson) pictured below...
We also got our first look at Terry Cocklin (Chris Hemsworth) pictured below…
As you can see, it’s all there in black and white. The leak makes total sense. When I first read this plot leak, I was in doubt. I wondered if this truly could fit the franchise’s theme of redemption. I was very suspicious. But again, it makes sense. Using race as a plot device could actually add dimensions to the characters and add longevity to the franchise.
While the images don’t offer much in the way of excitement, they do at least confirm that Creed is back, baby. The movie continues to shoot in both Philadelphia and the Arabian desert. Also, Creed star Tessa Thompson has confirmed that Damon Wayans will serve as director. The Creed sequel is currently titled Creed 3: Redemption. No release date has been revealed. However, we do know the much-anticipated sequel will stream exclusively on ESPN+.
What do our readers think? Should race be front and center in a Creed sequel? Do you have your money on the black guy or the white guy? Is this the inspirational sports movie we need right now? Will this movie unite America? Should Rocky finally kick the bucket? Is Chris Hemsworth the best Chris between him, Chris Evans, Chris Farley, Chris Tucker, and Chris Pine? We will keep you updated with more leaks as we learn more.
In other news, White House Down 2: America Under Siege has officially been greenlit with Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx. I guess the studio has decided to go all in while Americans have an interest in domestic terrorism. Rumor has it there will also be three streaming spin-offs titled Air Force One Down, Fire Red Down and Get Down. Leave your thoughts below!
Stay Woke, Videoland!
