Batgirl to be released on Blu-ray in B&W and as a Walmart bargain-bin exclusive.
Holy hole in a doughnut, Batgirl!
The following scoop comes to us from our trusty leakers over at the BloJo Movie Network. According to BloJo, the unfinished DC Comics movie “Batgirl” will be released on Blu-ray in B&W and as a bargain-bin Walmart exclusive on September 27th.
The reportedly $90 million movie, which was doing test screenings for audiences in anticipation of a late 2022 debut, would rank among the most expensive Walmart bargain-bin exclusives ever. The “Batgirl” test screenings were said to be so piss-poor that the studio decided to cut its losses and flush the turd as fast as possible.
“’Batgirl’ is the worst movie I’ve ever seen. I hated it! I heard WB was thinking about putting it on Blu-ray and selling it to Walmart in a special black-and-white edition. Oh well, maybe the black-and-white Blu-ray presentation will hide the crap CGI and cheap costumes. What else do they have to lose?” the test screener said.
Although Warner Bros. has not made an official announcement, Disc Dumpster Diving.com discovered a listing with online retailer CrapMovie Warehouse, indicating a September release date. According to the listing, the Blu-ray includes a black-and-white version of the film, and it does not appear that a color version will be included. Bonus features are scarce: only a Mountain Dew commercial and a trailer for “DC League of Super-Pets.” There is still no word on a “Batgirl” steelbook or limited-edition gift set. However, there have been rumors that “Batgirl” and “The Munsters” will be packaged and sold together as a double feature when they both release on September 27th. Keep your fingers crossed.
We reached out to Warner Bros. for comment. They told us to shove off.
