The Blues Brothers remake will have an all-female cast
Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig will take the lead in the new all-female The Blues Sisters. Dan Aykroyd, the star of the original Blues Brothers and its sequel, revealed the all-female cast with a post on Facebook. Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig will be joined by Saturday Night Live comediennes Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon in the reworked version of the cult film.
The cast is expected to start filming the remake in Mexico (for tax reasons) in the summer. Dan Aykroyd has also said that the film will be set in the modern day with music by Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, The Jonas Brothers, Island Boys, Nickelback, and Kanye West.
While the news of the remake will surely face criticism from fans of the original Blues Brothers, one person who will be watching is Paul Feig, who was the director of the all-female-led Ghostbusters.
"It sounds great to me…it's a good idea, I would watch it," he told The BloJo Movie Network.
Anyway, what’re your thoughts on Dan Aykroyd getting the band back together (sorta) with an all-female-led cast? Is this news going to make John Belushi roll over in his grave? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
In other news, Avatar 3 will introduce evil fire Na’vi, called Firewalkers. And supposedly, Avatar 4 will introduce woke snow Na’vi, called Snowflakes.
Stay woke, Videoland!
