Harley Quinn And Sonic Will F**ck In R-rated Crossover?
Paramount and Warner Bros. have decided to bury the mallet.
In a stunning move, the two studios have teamed up to introduce Sonic the Hedgehog as Harley Quinn’s new love interest in James Gunn’s upcoming Suicide Squad reboot. Paramount chief Jim Gianopulos tells BloJo Network that he reached out to DC Films president Walter Hamada when he noticed that fans of the franchises were trashing each other online.
“Enough was enough,” he stated. “I have nothing against Harley Quinn, and I want the property to succeed just as much as Sonic. And that’s when I realized, ‘If these franchises can co-exist in the same marketplace, why can’t they share the same universe?’ The story writes itself.”
Hamada agrees. “I loved the idea. Sonic and Harley are both larger-than life personalities, so they’re a natural fit. I had some initial reservations about putting a family-friendly character such as Sonic in what might be an R-rated film, but Jim assured me the fans would be fine with it.”
“Look, furries are an untapped market,” Gianopulos explained. “With the right concept, we can get them to open up their wallets and become die-hard fans of both our studios. Walter and I believe this is that concept.”
According to a new script that the studio chiefs shared with us, Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) is chasing Dr. Robotnik (a cameo by Jim Carrey) across the country when he gets lost in Gotham City. Harley Quinn (played as always by Margot Robbie) spots Sonic wandering down a back alley, and—thinking that he will make a great new pet—captures him by hitting him over the head with her baseball bat. However, once she realizes he can talk, she takes a liking to his cocky and carefree personality and he is smitten by her impulsiveness and ditzy charm. They are soon an item, much to the confusion of the rest of the Squad.
“Since this is an R-rated film, yes, they f**k,” Gianopulos revealed. “To make it believable, we’ve hired Andy Serkis to play Sonic as a motion-capture character. Both he and Margot are really looking forward to their scenes together.”
Hamada added, “Our mantra at DC Films has always been to give the fans what they want, and Jim and I believe that the fans will be happy to see Harley and Sonic getting along with each other. Of course, we’re well aware that James Gunn began principal photography last year, but he’s agreed to add the new scenes in reshoots. I mean, if Sonic fans were willing to wait several more months for a character redesign, I’m sure they’d be willing to wait for this. And if that means pushing the film until Thanksgiving or Christmas, we definitely have no problem with that. Look at how well Aquaman did in December. And it didn’t have a blue hedgehog f**king a clown.”
