Norman and Harry Osborn are BLACK In MCU’s upcoming Spider-Man movie
It looks like Marvel is ready to shake things up once again, and this time, they’re going all in. Rumor has it that the MCU’s next Spider-Man movie will feature none other than Willem Dafoe and James Franco reprising their roles as Norman and Harry Osborn, but with a twist. That’s right, Marvel is making history by casting two white actors to play Black characters by simply putting them in blackface.
Marvel execs reportedly believe this is the perfect way to evolve the franchise. According to our very real and totally legitimate sources inside Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige himself said, “We want to expand representation in the MCU, and we thought, who better to do it than two guys who already nailed these roles over 20 years ago? We just needed them to be, you know, Black.”
While some critics have pointed out that there are, in fact, thousands of incredibly talented Black actors who could portray the Osborns, Marvel has doubled down. “We just don’t have time to find new people,” one anonymous producer confessed. “And let’s be honest, fans loved Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn. They don’t want a different actor, they just want him to be… Black now. Progress!”
Dafoe, who is already a meme god, has reportedly embraced the change. When asked about the controversy, he simply grinned in the way that has haunted Spider-Man fans since 2002 and said, “I’m something of a Black actor myself.”
With this groundbreaking casting decision, Marvel has also decided to give the next Spider-Man movie a fittingly bold title. Following Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home, the next entry will be called Spider-Man: Homie Coming. Feige insists the title totally fits the theme of the movie and “has absolutely nothing to do with the new Osborns.” Right. Because nothing says respectful representation quite like that.
Will Spider-Man: Homie Coming be a game-changer or the moment the MCU officially jumps the shark? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure, Marvel is always ready to push boundaries. And by push boundaries, we mean set them on fire, douse them in controversy, and then claim it was all part of the plan.
What do you think? Are you ready to see Dafoe and Franco become the Black Osborns, or is this the most insane Marvel rumor yet? Either way, the internet is about to explode.
