New Predator movie will be titled Prey: Jesus
After visiting the early Americas, the Predator franchise will be heading to Ancient Rome next. It’s now been confirmed that Predator 6, titled Prey: Jesus, will be shot on location in Israel and released sometime in the summer of 2025.
The BloJo Movie Network has a synopsis:
Set during the Roman Empire thousands of years ago, Jesus of Nazareth, a skilled carpenter, is delivering a sermon when all of a sudden he must protect his followers against a highly evolved alien predator.
Dan Trachtenberg, who directed Prey, will return for Prey: Jesus. He’s currently in Italy where he’s meeting with Pope Francis and getting a blessing during the ongoing writers and actors strike. Speaking with The Vatican View, he said that he’s super excited about the sequel.
“I can’t really say much, but we got some crazy ideas. I mean, can you imagine the son of God being hunted by a Predator? Can you imagine the epic battle between good and evil? Can you imagine the tension Jesus would feel? He obviously had the stress of his situation. He had to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. Right? Now imagine Jesus running through the Garden of Gethsemane and hearing the Predator's trademark clicking sounds in the trees. Jesus couldn’t escape in a chopper! He had to die for our sins. But he also has the power of resurrection, right? That’s all I’m going to say. I don’t want to spoil anything. Get hyped!”
Danny Trejo, who will play the titular role of Jesus of Nazareth, has already said that Prey: Jesus will go down in history as the “biggest Predator/Jesus movie of all time.”
Considering that the Predator only has one goal in mind (defeating warriors from various planets), it would make sense for them to travel to Ancient Rome, taking on the son of God. Anyway, what do our readers think? Sound off like a trumpet in the comments below.
In other news, the success of Barbie at the box office means Polly Pocket Pussy will be the next Mattel movie to get the big screen treatment. Supposedly, the movie will have Being John Malkovich vibes and is being described as grounded and gritty with unique takes on intersectional feminism and the sexualization of young women. Definitely not for kids! Polly Pocket Pussy will star Daniel Kaluuya and Jenna Ortega and will be directed by J.J. Abrams. Stay Woke Videoland!
