Jordan Peele’s Nope trilogy will continue ripping off the Jaws franchise.
Jordan Peele’s Nope hasn’t even left the theaters, and he is already working on the sequel. He briefly ruined his idea for Nope Not Again Part 2:
“I want to explore where the UFO came from. The first Nope ripped off Jaws, and for the sequel, I’m ripping off Jaws 2 but with an artsy twist,” Peele said about his sequel. “I shouldn’t be telling you all this, but what the hell. So…years after the first UFO attacks, Otis Jr. -- played by my good friend Daniel Kaluuya -- finds new trouble lurking in the skies. And then I have this new character named Duke, a middle-aged white guy with a small penis. I’m hoping to cast Dan Aykroyd. He wants to rid the town of its ugly reputation. But the disappearance of a pair of horses suggests that all is not right. Otis voices his warnings about the UFO, but everyone thinks it's post-traumatic stress because of the events from the first movie. That is, until a UFO cuts through the sky. Otis screams NOPE NOT AGAIN, and that’s the movie. I’m still fleshing out the story. And I have more Gordy the chimp ideas. It’s gunna be real groovy.”
Jordan Peele continued:
“If Nope Not Again Part 2 is successful, I have an idea for a third movie inspired by Jaws 3-D. It’ll be called Nope 3-D. If you’ve already seen Jaws 3-D, then you have a pretty good idea of where I’m going with the story. I’ve also been in early talks with Louis Gossett Jr. and Dennis Quaid. And if Nope 3-D is successful, I have another idea for a spin-off movie called Nopenado. It’s like if Nope, Jaws and Sharknado had a baby. The ideas just keep coming to me.”
So, it sounds like we can expect something that Peele has become known for. Something that has his unoriginal voice and sensibilities while also ripping off something we haven’t seen for a while. From Get Out to Nope, all three of his films have involved that same unimaginative voice.
All this is very exciting. We can’t wait to see the sequels. But, more than that, we can’t wait to see the first one.
