A.V. Opinions: Dream Scenario sold me on Nicolas Cage as Freddy Krueger

Last night, I finally had the chance to watch “Dream Scenario” with Nicolas Cage, and I was blown away. A Videolander had recommended it to me, and I'm glad I took their advice. The movie had an independent arthouse “Nightmare on Elm Street” vibe to it, and I was impressed. What surprised me most was the tone - I expected a typical arthouse movie, but instead, I got a thought-provoking, highbrow horror film that explored the consequences of being the object of everyone's dreams.

The idea is genius: imagine being the star of everyone's dreams, both positive and negative. Company’s would clamor to sign contracts with you, just to have you appear in their dreams with merch. But then, the tables turn, and you start killing people in their dreams, wreaking havoc on a global scale. It's a chilling concept, and Nicolas Cage brings it to life with his intense performance.

As I watched, I couldn't help but think that Nicolas Cage would make a great Freddy Krueger. Robert Englund's iconic performance is irreplaceable, but Cage has the acting chops and charisma to bring a fresh take to the role. While it's hard to imagine anyone else donning the infamous red and green striped sweater, I think Cage could potentially pull it off.

While this may just be a pipe dream (no pun intended), I think Nicolas Cage as Freddy Krueger could be a exciting and unexpected direction for the franchise. What do you think? Would you want to see Cage take on the iconic villain role? Let me know in the comments!
