Danny Glover to Star as LeBron James in Biopic
Yes, you read that right. Danny “I’m too old for this” Glover will suit up as King James himself, proving that anything is possible if you have enough creative casting.
Glover, 78, reportedly signed on for the role right after committing to Lethal Weapon 10. Sources say Glover was handpicked for the LeBron role after a studio executive remarked, “Hey, they both look alike.”
The biopic, tentatively titled I’m Too Old for This Dunk: The LeBron James Story, will chronicle LeBron’s rise to greatness, from his high school days to his NBA championships. Glover is reportedly undergoing a grueling training regimen to prepare for the role.
In a statement to Variety, Glover said, “I’ve always admired LeBron. His work ethic, his dedication to the game, and his ability to carry a team on his back, just like I carried Mel Gibson through nine Lethal Weapon movies. This role will be my magnum opus.”
Glover’s uncanny resemblance to LeBron (if you squint really hard or maybe just close your eyes) is expected to be a major selling point. Fans are already speculating that the Academy will love the “boldness” of casting an older actor to play a younger basketball icon.
LeBron fans and moviegoers alike will just have to wait and see if Glover can defy expectations or at least make a convincing slam dunk in orthopedic sneakers. Either way, one thing’s for sure: this casting decision has already scored a triple-double in internet memes.
