A.V. Opinions: Rob Zombie needs to make a violent hillbilly Bigfoot movie
Rob Zombie and Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) teamed up to create a Bigfoot comic in 2005. Now, I’ll admit—I haven’t read it. Not for lack of trying, though! eBay prices are through the roof, and Amazon’s got it listed for $100. But even though I haven’t snagged a copy yet, knowing it exists has made me want something even more: a Rob Zombie redneck violent Bigfoot movie.
Let’s face it, the Bigfoot genre is pretty played out at this point. We’ve been bombarded with every found footage angle possible, low-budget creature flicks, and wilderness survival stories that recycle the same tropes. It’s getting stale. But here’s the thing—Rob Zombie could totally shake things up. With his love of horror and that gritty, blood-soaked style he’s known for, he could make something that stands out in this tired genre. Rob Zombie and Bigfoot is a match made in monster movie heaven.
Zombie’s last film, *The Munsters*, wasn’t exactly a critic darling. And while his Firefly trilogy has a cult following, it’s done. So what’s next? A hardcore, Rated R, blood-soaked Bigfoot movie could be the perfect way for Zombie to storm back into the horror world. Picture his signature violent, redneck aesthetic meeting the ferocity of a Sasquatch. This wouldn’t be some campy creature feature—it would be a brutal survival horror flick that finally gives Bigfoot the savage, terrifying treatment he deserves. With his signature grindhouse style, he could dive into the darker side of the Bigfoot myth and give us something truly unforgettable.
Now, here’s where I’m half serious, half joking—imagine Sherri Moon Zombie as Bigfoot. Hear me out! And then we get the rest of Zombie’s crew—Daniel Roebuck, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Bill Moseley, Richard Brake, and, of course, Malcolm McDowell—to play a gang of hillbillies hunting her down. It’s violent, it’s chaotic, it’s pure Rob Zombie madness. While I’m only half-serious about Sherri as Sasquatch, I’m dead serious that this crew needs to be in the movie. They’ve got that perfect backwoods, gritty vibe that would make this movie unforgettable.
Anyway just my two cents. But I think Rob Zombie could give us the definitive Bigfoot movie—a violent, gory spectacle that would put him back on the horror map in a big way. Even if I still haven’t gotten my hands on the comic, I know one thing: the world needs a violent hillbilly Rob Zombie Bigfoot movie, and it needs it now.
